Lose the restrictive grid heater in favor of airflow! The factory grid heater on the 6.7L Cummins is integrated into the intake plenum (long plate that intake manifold bolts to).
Unfortunately, the grid heater is only 2/3 the size of even the factory intake manifold opening, meaning you have a MAJOR bottleneck at the plenum area caused from the grid heater. This results in poor airflow which equates to pressure spikes, higher EGT's, poor turbo spool up, and lower MPG's. You can regain this airflow by installing one of BD's new Open Grid Intake Plenums that replaces the entire factory plenum with a unit that has a properly sized opening to better match up to your stock manifold, or one of BD's new Intake Manifolds for superior flow. This will also remove the restrictive grid heater, that on most trucks, is completely unnecessary.
